You’re Only an Imposter Until You’re Not

Imposter Syndrome

Lately, I’ve been grappling with the idea of diving headfirst into sharing more content on this site and social media.

I have plenty of ideas for what I want to publish or create, but I often find myself doubting whether it’s worth posting or if anyone would care to listen or read.

Sometimes, this doubt takes over to the point where I scrap whatever I planned to share and delay it until the time feels “right.”

This seems to be common among creatives and anyone who puts themselves out there.

Overnight Celebrities

Access to people’s creative minds has never been more accessible than now. Anyone with a phone and an email address can start a TikTok or YouTube channel and begin publishing content.

People have become celebrities overnight from viral videos and short-form clips that took minutes to make and share.

They wake up to find thousands of new followers and supporters.

Now burdened with the task of maintaining their success as ‘content creators,’ you hear stories of these people questioning their own identity and fame, dealing with the imposter syndrome of going from regular people to internet celebrities in a matter of days.

It’s not just content creators who suffer from this.

Everyone is an Imposter

You might have worked a 9-5 job on minimum wage for a good portion of your life and then taken a job that pays well in a better environment, thinking, “Do I deserve this?”

You could have been in a strained relationship where you put in all the effort and got little back, only to now be in a healthy one where things feel simple and effortless, and you may think, “This is too good to be true.”

Well, I’m here to say that your success is not a mistake.

I believe it’s a result of the circumstances you put yourself in and your ability to strike when the time is right.

If you endure enough rainy days, a sunny one will come.

…Until They’re Not

I may only be at the beginning of my journey as a creator, and people might not notice what I publish now, but that doesn’t mean I’m not qualified to share my thoughts here.

You might have aced a job interview and gotten lucky to receive an offer for a job that seemed out of your league, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take the opportunity with both hands and make something from it.

Finding a partner who has all the qualities you looked for and more doesn’t have to be “too good to be true”; it could be just what you needed at just the right time.

Many of the content creators I mentioned earlier have gone on to build successful platforms for themselves despite their abrupt entry into fame.

Those who are most successful seem to be the ones who acknowledge that their rise to fame was sudden but then harness their newfound audience and reputation to build themselves into a successful position.

Sometimes you don’t have a say in the cards you are dealt.

However, you do have a say in when to capitalize on opportunities that present themselves at just the right time.

You are only an imposter until you’re not…
